JOINING DPS
I chose to apply for the DPS year in late January 2024. Naturally, I felt completely unprepared and almost immediately decided that I would indeed fail in my attempts to make this year mean something … or anything?
During the start of my second year, I was completely unaware of the opportunity for DPS; then, one day, while on a collaborative project, another student was talking to me about how they were busy applying for internships and all of a sudden, there I was. Already behind, and in that moment, feeling the weight of my entire future career crush down on my chest become HELLO?? I hadn’t even heard of DPS, let alone began applying for anything. This was the moment I decided that I had already ruined my chances of having a life-changing year (in hindsight, extremely melodramatic, but hey, gotta make use of that drama GSCE)
After one to two mini breakdowns over the fact that I had no idea what I truly wanted to do with my future and a mental crisis over the fact I categorically did not feel ready to graduate in 2025, especially without any industry experience, I decided I would indeed give DPS a go. This, of course, is the origin story of this blog, which, although made reluctantly and 6 months late, follows my DPS journey!
